This is all required by our lawyers, or the lawyers we would have
if we had any, or suggested by the lawyers we know from wherever.
The information presented here is correct to the best
of the knowledge of the site maintainers. We are not
certified electrical engineers. We are not safety experts. We
are not lawyers. We're just people who like guitars
and amps, who hang out in the
alt.guitar.amps (AGA)
newsgroup, and who know enough web site stuff to maintain
this site. Use of this site implies acceptance of all terms
and conditions, caveats, and cave newts herein.
The site maintainers want this site to be useful to and used by
as much of the AGA population as possible. To this end, said
site maintainers will attempt to treat everyone equally. We
will not censor anyone because we disagree with their opinions
regarding things musical or electronic, or
just because they have flamed us, harassed us, or
otherwise come after us on the net. For instance, Kent will
not censor HiWatt lovers, and Miles will not censor emacs
geeks. At least, not unless they violate the guidelines.
On the other hand, we do have certain guidelines for things
on this website.
- Truth in advertising
Don't knowingly post false data, or even data
you aren't sure of. Don't pretend to be
someone else.
- Stay family friendly
Miles would like his wife, children, nieces, nephews,
pets, neighbors, pastor, and everyone else to be
able to read the site without getting unnecesarrily
offended. In other words, no profanity, no vile
language, no rude pictures. You have plenty of
other outlets for those.
- Topicality rules
While we don't want to limit this website to just
guitar amps, we do wish to keep it relevant to
the AGA newsgroup. The primary focus of that group
is guitar amps, although barbecue, ranting and raving,
guns and various other subjects and actions frequently
occur. This is an extension of that community, but
at the same time we aren't going to dedicate resources
to barbecue recipes or flame wars (that's what the newsgroup
is for. 8^)
- No spam
The user and business information presented here is
for individual use only. You may not make make
use of any information here for any sort of spam
activities, even if you include a disclaimer
about the latest House or Senate bill.
Failure to abide by these simple rules does
subject you to censorship, and may result in editing,
or the complete yanking of, your bio or business data,
or links to your website. We'd like to avoid that as
much as we suspect you would.
DISCLAIMER: |
Tube amplifiers contain potentially lethal, high
voltages even after they are unplugged, that may cause
personal injury or death. Do not attempt to repair,
modify, or work on any amplifier unless you are absolutely
certain you know what you are doing.
|
The DC voltages present in tube amps may remain long after
the amp is unplugged, even if you think you have drained them.
Shocks from these can be painful, or even lethal. The AC
voltage from the wall is always present somewhere in the
amp if it's plugged in. This can be extremely
painful, and has a fair likelihood of killing you. If you
aren't sure of your ability to avoid shock, take your
gear to a qualified technician, or get the education you
need to work on the amp safely. (Even careful experts get
shocks occasionally.)
Amp modifications, circuits and projects documented on this
site are documented solely for the sake of knowledge. The
appearance of any modification or build information is not
to be construed as a recommendation or suggestion that
YOU do anything. That's totally your decision!
The authors and site maintainers will do their best to post only
valid information. Nevertheless, if you try any modification
or build anything described at this site or sites to which it
links, you assume all responsibility
for anything that happens, whether the amp explodes, you get zapped,
or the amp suddenly increases in value because everyone falls in
love with it. The glory, the pain, whatever, they're all yours.
If you can't live with that, don't mess with the amp!
