AGA Profile Listing

Margaret Wilson, Information Technologist

Title: Information Technologist
What title really means: It depends on the day....
Address[es]: Lansing, Michigan, USA
Birth date: 11-24-1961
Nickname[s]: MEW, Marg
Major/minor: B.A. in English
School info: Michigan State University
Hobbies: jazz, blues and classical guitar; tube amps; audio; computers; reading; listening to music; movie-going; home improvement
Brief (?) bio: I've been playing guitar since 1969, started out flat-picking and became a fingerstylist somewhere along the way. After college I worked as a technical writer and editor for several years. Over time I realized I preferred figuring out how technical things work (and making them work better) to writing about how technical things work. Got my MCSE and worked my way into LAN design/management/security. During my last "gig," I worked as an IT manager.
Personality type (may help avoid flames): Recovering type A -- I'm forever learning the art of patience and have mellowed ... quite a bit ... over the years. Honest! ;-)
Other personal info: My dad is a Scottish immigrant (now naturalized), so I am proudly half British. Our family lived in England from 1972-1977.
Actor/Actress to play you if they made a movie of your life?: Velma from the Scooby Doo cartoon....
Best books recently read: "Prodigal Summer" by Barbara Kingsolver
Tunes most frequently playing lately: Howard Morgen and Martin Taylor jazz arrangements
Best movies recently watched: "The Gift" and "Winged Migration"
Recommended TV shows: House, Criminal Intent, CSI Crime Scene Investigation, Crossing Jordan, the various Laws and Orders, Boston Legal, and yes, the original Star Trek series. Umm, I do like the Voyager series as well.
Miscellaneous recommendations: Sony's noise-canceling headphones (MDR-NC6). Comfortable, fit well, sound great, and the price is right. ;-)
Things you don't recommend: Running with scissors
